There is no doubt that the stress of moving causes people to move things quickly, resulting in damage. There are a few things you can do in order to minimize the stress of moving. The most important thing to remember is to start early. Do not save all of your moving related tasks to the last minute. You will almost always get stressed out and damage a few things if you feel rushed.

Moving guides provide excellent tips on how to pack certain items both in boxes, but also in a truck if you are driving your own items to your new residence. Do not underestimate the value of using a moving guide. There are many little tips in these guides that can reduce stress and damage to your possessions during your move.

Secondly, make sure to create a moving checklist. What do you need to get done in order to move on schedule? Will certain tasks take longer than others? Will you need help performing some tasks? Ask yourself all of these questions before you create your moving checklist. Once you have your list assembled, prioritize the things you need to get done. Always pack one or two boxes that contain things you will immediately need such as shampoo, soap, toilet paper, a shower curtain, etc. Open these boxes first so you have all your necessities readily available. Next, immediately place each box in the new room where it belongs. This will eliminate the need for moving boxes around within your new residence. Finally, unpack on room at a time. Do not start unpacking a room until the previous room is completely set-up. These tips should lead to a safe and stress free move.
